Itinerary:
Days 1-4: UK to Las Vegas
Depart the UK from your chosen airport.
Your round the world in 80 days begins in the USA. We’ve included our
Las Vegas stopover with 4 days in the Nevada Desert to explore this
loud, chaotic and fun city. On your second day, take a remarkable day
trip to the Grand Canyon via the Hoover Dam. You’ll visit two separate
look out points on the canyon’s rim to enjoy spectacular views and
take some amazing photos. If you’d prefer the helicopter tour option,
we can upgrade your trip to a flight, in which case you would get to
fly over Lake Mead on the Colorado River, (the largest reservoir in
the USA and land 3,500 feet into the Grand Canyon itself.
Experience the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas!
Days 4-13: San Francisco to Los Angeles self-drive
Today you’ll arrive in San Francisco ready to start your self-drive
adventure. We’ve included a few days to explore the city so you could
cycle across the Golden Gate Bridge, head down to Fisherman’s Wharf or
enjoy a full day trip into Napa Valley for some wine tasting. Leaving
the city, you’ll take the scenic Pacific Coast Highway south through
Carmel, Monterey and Big Sur before winding your way down to Los
Angeles. Spend a few days exploring LA; star-spotting on Hollywood
Boulevard or browsing through the boutiques on Rodeo Drive before you
head to your next destination.
Explore the iconic sights of San Francisco
Days 14-22: Rarotonga & Aitutaki Escape
Touchdown in the Cook Islands to begin our Rarotonga & Aitutaki
Escape. Spend a few days winding down and experiencing daily life on
Rarotonga with its beautiful beaches and volcanic interior. You'll
encounter a real sense of authenticity here as all hotels are locally
owned and run, plus there's also a strong cultural influence. 'Island
nights' are a regular occurrence here, offering you an opportunity to
get a feel for Polynesian culture through the sharing of food, dance
and music.
After a few days, you'll take a 45 minute scenic flight over to the
island of Aitutaki, where the spectacular Aitutaki Lagoon awaits. No
trip is complete without a boat ride on the lagoon and it's even
possible to get married on a little island in the centre!

Days 24-32: Self-drive NZ: North Island B&B
New Zealand is your next stop and here we’ve included our North Island
B&B trip to introduce you to the highlights of North Island. You’ll be
staying in some lovely local properties, often with only a handful of
rooms – so they’re able to provide a local, personalised experience.
Your self-drive will take you from Auckland to Wellington with stops
along the way. In Rotorua, we’ve included a traditional Maori evening
complete with Hangi feast and Maori dancing. Next up is Lake Taupo,
which offers spectacular scenery and the option to be more active.
Trekking the picturesque Tongariro Crossing is a highlight in the
North Island and one of the most famous walks in New Zealand.

Days 32-40: Self-drive NZ: South Island B&B
South Island is your next destination, so you’ll fly into Queenstown
ready to start your South Island adventure – the adventure capital of
New Zealand for a 2 night stay. If you have time, we recommend
extending your stay here to include an overnight cruise to Milford
Sounds. Considered one of New Zealand’s most stunning natural
attractions, you’ll cruise through majestic scenery, dramatic
landscapes and the fiords. The glaciers are next, so we’ve included a
night in Franz Josef, with a small group hike on the ice and a
helicopter ride onto the glacier! Your trip ends in Christchurch, with
a stop in Kaikoura. At the right time of year you can even enjoy a
whale watching cruise!

Days 40-43: Melbourne Stopover
Welcome to Australia! Begin your time here with our 3 night Melbourne
stopover package to help you explore the capital of Victoria. Known
for its funky vibe, Melbourne is home to cool restaurants, cafes and
artwork and is an epicentre for sporting events. Head up the Sky Tower
for 360 degree views of the city and be sure to check out the suburb
of St Kilda, known for its beautiful beach, vibrant social scene and
delicious cake shops. We’ve also included a day trip along the Great
Ocean Road which takes you all the way to the spectacular Twelve
Apostles, along a super-scenic stretch of Australia’s coastline.

Days 43-46: Red Centre experience: Ayers Rock to Alice Springs
When you arrive in Ayers Rock, you’ll join a small group camping tour
for your Red Centre experience. Your first night will be spent
exploring the cultural centre and watching the sunset over Uluru.
You’ll even have the opportunity to sleep under the stars in a
traditional Australian ‘swag’. After watching the sunrise the next
over the famous rock the next morning, you’ll make your way over to
Kings Creek - a working cattle station. Be sure to try the famous
Kings Creek camel burgers! After a guided walk around the rim of Kings
Canyon, your last night here will be in Alice Springs before moving
on.

Days 46-53: Brisbane to Sydney: Pacific Highway road trip
Its time now for your first self-drive adventure; Brisbane to Sydney
along the Pacific Highway. After a night in Brisbane, collect your car
and head down the coast towards the surfers town of Byron Bay. With
its crashing waves and relaxed vibe you’ll feel relaxation sweeping
over you! Take part in a whale watching cruise or walk the Cape Byron
Track before driving on a little further down the coast first to Coffs
Harbour and then to Port Macquarie, two more laidback coastal towns
with that are also havens for local wildlife. Two nights in Sydney
complete your time in Australia, so why not visit the iconic Opera
House and Harbour Bridge for some perfect snaps and enjoy lunch on the
river bank like a true Sydney local?

Days 53-56: Singapore stopover
We’ve included our Singapore stopover package with 3 nights’
accommodation, airport transfers and a half-day city tour. In the
evening, we recommend you head down to Marina Bay to see the stunning
light shows that light up the sky. Why not book an afternoon tea at
the iconic Raffles Hotel, or head up to the Long Bar to enjoy a
Singapore Sling in the bar where it was created?

Days 56-69: Thailand & Laos Classic Adventure
Your discovery of Indochina begins in Bangkok where we’ve included a
small group tour: Thailand and Laos Adventure. Travelling in a small,
sociable group with like-minded companions, you’ll journey from
Bangkok to Hanoi in Vietnam travelling overland through Laos.
Experience the fast-paced city of Bangkok before heading north to
Chiang Mai, known for its wildlife, hill tribes and trekking
opportunities. After crossing into Laos, you’ll meander down the
Mekong River by boat then continue overland through Laos. Wander
through the local markets, enjoy temple visits and massages and enjoy
and an authentic homestay with a local family in a village. Your trip
finishes in Hanoi with a stay in the Old Quarter; visit Ho Chi Minh’s
Mausoleum and the presidential palace and enjoy a Vietnamese iced
coffee looking out over Hoan Kiem Lake.

Days 70-75: Pilanesburg Safari from Johannesburg
When you arrive in South Africa, we’ve included our Pilanesburg safari
from Johannesburg. With 5 nights here, you’ll head out on a ‘Big 5’
game safari. We’ve included a night either side of your safari stay in
Johannesburg to give you a chance to explore. ‘Jo’berg’ as it is
colloquially known is a city on the up; its cultural centre includes
theatres, restaurants, cafes and museums and the inner city has become
a haven for tourists. We guarantee you will be pleasantly surprised by
the cultural experiences and friendly locals.
Your safari experience takes place at Shepherds Tree Lodge in the
Pilanesburg National Park. Here you can spot zebras, lions and
elephant while relaxing in beautiful surroundings with all your meals
and activities included in your stay. An experience of a lifetime!
Keep an eye out for roaming wildlife
Days 75-82: Cape Town and the winelands
You now have a week to explore the fabulous Cape Town & the winelands
region. Spend your first 3 nights in Cape Town exploring the culture
and history of this fascinating country, learning about Apartheid and
even taking a trip to Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was
incarcerated. Leaving the city, you’ll drive out drive to
Stellenbosch, home to funky art galleries and cool cafes, with
vineyards nearby for those wine tasting excursions. Foodies will love
the next stop - Franschhoek – with the opportunity to dine in some of
the best restaurants in South Africa.
